Finally, the long wait is over, as Xiaomi has officially taken the veils off its highly rumored first Redmi-branded gaming smartphone.
This phone is coming under the Xiaomi Redmi K40 series that was announced earlier this year with impressive specs and reasonable pricing, and so, the new gaming phone is called the “Redmi K40 Gaming Edition“, still with impressive specs, and aggressive pricing.
So, what do we have here?
Well, a lot.
To start with, you’ll be staring at a now-normal 6.67 Inches OLED display with 10 Bit colors, HDR10+ capable, 120Hz refresh rate, up to 480Hz touch response rate, and protected with a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5 on top of it.
I bet you’re already getting the gaming vibes right?
Aside from the display, the phone comes with physical shoulder buttons on the left and right sides of it, which can be retracted and tucked away inside the phone’s chassis when they’re not in use.
Sitting at the helm of affairs is Mediatek’s yet fastest processor, the Dimensity 1200 chipset, which is channeled to up to 12 Gigabytes of RAM capacity, which, in turn, are both tunneled to up to 256 Gigabytes of internal storage capacity.
As for cameras, you’re getting a trio of it on the back, a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor.
The entire camera module or housing has this unique finish to it which again, gives off that gaming vibe whenever you take a glance on the phone.
It is flanked by two LED breathing lights that probably lights up when gaming, or even taking pictures, or, can be customized to light up for some certain events on the phone, like when you get a new notification.
The camera flash also comes in its own unique shape, like a lighting bolt. So, once again, gaming vibes.
Sound on the phone is being delivered by a set of JBL-tuned stereo speakers, with Hi-Res Audio certification, and Dolby Atmos support.
The phone is protected by two sheets of Gorilla Glass 5, one on the back, and the second one on the screen, and it is also IP53 rated against dust and water splashes.
The base configuration of the phone, which is 6 Gigabytes of RAM and 128 Gigabytes of storage is said to cost about $310.
So, you see, this is roughly one of the most cheapest gaming smartphone that you find on the market right now, if it happens to launch globally.
So, tell us what you think about the new Xiaomi Redmi K40 gaming phone in the comments section below. Will you be willing to buy this phone if it eventually launches in your region, or is it a no-no for you?
