Although Xiaomi is not the first people or first smartphone company rather, to do something of such, but it seems they are the first to do it, in such a way that it is generally accepted by the public.
So let’s say hello to the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 smartphone, in a time like this when the heat is so tense for the best way to perfectly and completely eliminate smartphones top and bottom bezel, in order to achieve that 100% all screen design, Xiaomi decided to go or follow rather, one known path which a couple of some other smart phone companies have followed before, which is using mechanical or moving parts to hide the phone’s front facing cameras, either inside the phone itself, or behind the phone.
Vivo first started it with the Vivo Nex S, then Oppo followed suit with the Oppo’s Find X, we’ve as well seen what Huawei did with their new Honor Magic 2 smartphone, in fact, Huawei’s implementation is exactly the same thing Xiaomi did with this present Mi Mix 3, and at this point, we can’t even tell who copied who, and then we also saw Lenovo, with the Z5 Pro.
But it turned out, this particular path has mostly not been favoring these other smart phone companies in a way they actually thought it would have been, especially because people are thinking that phones that are like these can easily get damaged, or what if the cameras get stuck inside, or something such as a grain of sand gets in between the moving parts of the camera housing and all that.
But suddenly, when Xiaomi presented the Mi Mix 3 to the public, it was received mostly with open arms and smiles all over people’s faces.
So what makes it different from what every other smart phone companies have been offering or bringing to the table so far?.
Why were others not given the kind of recognition they deserved and why is Xiaomi’s own being received with all smiles..?
Well, that is what we’re about to find out today and right now. So join us and let’s review the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 smartphone, with an almost all screen bezeless design, no notch remember, and a slide up and down front facing cameras, that is being attached to an individual component, separate from the phone’s main body or display, and attached together using God knows what.
Starting with the design, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is nothing short of a premium, excellent and a well thought out beautifully designed smart phone.
The body itself, which is the compartment that the cameras are built on, is made of ceramic. Now there’s really nothing much going on in there in terms of design, like you don’t get any of those extra paparazzi or finishes on the body, everything is just plain and simple and where they used to be, but you just can’t deny the fact, that the Mi Mix 3 is just a perfect beauty to behold..
I bet you just have to see this phone in person for yourself, so you can confirm what i’m trying to say here.
Then coming to the display itself, which of no doubts is one among the few selling points of the phone, we are looking at a gigantic 6.39 Inches SuperAMOLED Full HD+ display, then with the presence of no notch and no bezels makes it even more immersive, like you can spend the rest of your life just staring at the display and you’ll keep wondering, what sort of magic is going on in there..
And for the next selling point of the phone, all you need do is just slide that display a little bit downwards with no much force or pressure, and you’ll be greeted with two front facing cameras, an earpiece, and a flash light.
Although it is only one of those cameras that does the actual picture taking, which is the 24MP Lens, the other one is a 2MP Depth Sensing lens which works for the things like creating blurry backgrounds in selfie portrait shots and i guess that’s just everything it can do.
Then at the rear, you can find another two cameras combo, first is a 12MP wide angle lens, which is the main shooter in this case, and it is locked at an F/1.8 aperture. And the second is another 12MP Telephoto lens.
But apart from just hardware and number of camera megapixels, there are still some very good tricks which the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 got up its sleeves, and i guess that’s why it shines among its mate.
By default you can slide down the display to reveal the cameras, and this action launches you straight into the camera app, but you can still choose to set it to trigger up another action if you want to, such as launching an app, and this is one thing the Huawei Honor Magic 2 lacks.
You can as well slide down to receive an incoming call, and slide back up to end it. But one thing the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 lacks is face unlock.
And speaking about speed and performance, well its got it all. Although most people will consider the Snapdragon 845 silicon chip in it to be a little backward because of the likes of Apple’s A12 Bionic and Huawei’s Kirin 980, but that does not mean it isn’t a capable chip that will not painlessly handle everything and anything you throw at it without breaking a sweat..
And that is what the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is all about. Coupled with a 6GB of RAM (there’s an 8GB and 10GB versions available too), and a 128GB of storage, need i tell you that this phone flies through apps?
I mean you’re not gonna have any issues at all if speed and performance is all you need in a smartphone.
But the only aspect which i know a lot of people, including myself considers as a disadvantage for the Mi Mix 3 is the battery..
I mean, this phone was released in 2018 for fuck’s sake, so why the heck will it come and did it come with a smallish 3200mAh power battery.. Like seriously, the last time i used a smart phone with such little battery was in 2016.
Okay enough of the complains, now one thing is sure, the battery management on this phone is top notch..
For one thing, you wouldn’t even feel like you’re using a 3200mAh device and for another thing, even when the battery finally runs out of juice and retires for the day, you can still bring it back to life within a short time, using Qualcomm’s Quick Charge and Xiaomi’s fast charger which is included in the box.
It can literally take the battery from 0% to 50% in just 30 mins of charge. And that is even not all. Still inside the box, there is a fast wireless charging pad that you can make use of also, so you’re not stuck to just wired charging.
Now guess how much this phone worths currently, this phone retails for $519.
