Tecno Camon 15 price in Nigeria
The Tecno Camon 15 smartphone might be considered old by today’s standards and even has been replaced by two Camon generations already, but trust me, there are still people out there who are willing to buy this smartphone, and at a price range of ₦68,000 – ₦76,000 in Nigeria, here’s everything that you stand to get on the Tecno Camon 15 smartphone in 2021.

- Tecno Camon 15 (4GB + 64GB) @ ₦68K – ₦76k, Jiji NG.
So, to start with, the Tecno Camon 15 was announced way back in February 2020, and since then, Tecno has taken to the stage two more times to announce a couple of new Camon-branded smartphones, the first one was the Camon 16 in October, same year as the 15, and the second one being the current and latest Camon 17 that launched earlier this year in May.
So, with a host of these new Tecno Camon smartphones, why will anyone still want to buy the Camon 15 in 2021? I mean, the spec discrepancies are there, and it becomes even more obvious when comparing the Camon 15 to the Camon 17 of this year, so, what might be their reason?
Well, personally, I don’t know, but one of the most common factors I think that might make anyone want to buy this smartphone in 2021 might be because of its slightly lesser price tag as compared to the new Camon phones that cost over ₦80,000 here in Nigeria.
But even with the lower price tag, the real question still remains, what actually do you get on the Tecno Camon 15 smartphone at about ₦68,000 to ₦76,000 here in Nigeria?
What you get on the Tecno Camon 15 smartphone in 2021.
For starters, you’re entitled to a massive 6.6 Inches 720p-resolution IPS LCD display which doesn’t seem like much in 2021, but for comparison, the Camon 16 and 17 have exactly the same type of display both in size and panel, with only the Camon 17 taking the refresh rate slightly up to 90Hz, so, we can basically say that you don’t have much to lose here.
Where you might begin to see very obvious differences between the Camon 15 and its two newer models is when it comes to performance, so, while the C15 employs a low-tier Mediatek Helio P22 chipset on top of 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage capacity, the Camon 16 and 17 both use a much better and faster Helio G70 and G85 mobile chipsets respectively, with the Camon 17 doubling up both the RAM and storage options up to 6GB and 128GB respectively.
For cameras, you get a 48MP main sensor on the back, this is in turn escorted by three additional sensors which are all 2MP in resolution each, with no defined explanation of what they actually do on the phone in terms of picture quality, and you even get similar setups on the Camon 16 and Camon 17 too, with the C16 featuring a 64MP main camera sensor, and Tecno dialing it back to a 48MP sensor on the C17.
And because we’re talking about Tecno budget smartphones here, I doubt there will be any noticeable differences in terms of actual real-life picture quality across the three phones, even with the 64MP sensor on the Camon 16. And the three phones all make use of the same 16MP front-facing camera sensor.
So, once again, you’re not really missing any groundbreaking features or specs in terms of camera hardware and picture quality if you decide to buy the Tecno Camon 15 smartphone today.
You’ll be getting Android version 10 with Tecno’s HIOS 6.0 custom UI on top of it, this is the same Android and custom UI version that you’d get on the Camon 16 as well, while the C17 comes with Android 11 out of the box, with HIOS 7.6.
But the takeaway here is; in terms of software and overall user experience, there are still no noticeable differences across the three smartphones, and to make matters worse, even if you buy the Camon 17 today because of its newer Android version and software version, it still won’t be getting updated to Android 12 when it arrives later in October, and same goes for the Camon 15 and 16.
So, for anyone who is planning to buy this phone, the Android version and software shouldn’t be a deciding factor.
And then lastly, you get a 5000mAh battery on the Camon 15, which is the same across the other two phones, with only the Camon 17 featuring up to 18W charging, the Camon 15 and 16 should be somewhere around 10W or even less.
So, at a price range of ₦68,000 – ₦76,000 in Nigeria, this is all you get with the Tecno Camon 15 smartphone in 2021.
