Just in case you’re experiencing difficulties while using the under-display fingerprint reader or scanner on your Samsung Galaxy A70 and A70s, the A71 and A72 smartphones, probably due to the slow reading speed and less accuracy that plagues most under-display fingerprint readers today, well, I might just know of a way that you can fix that.
So, today, I’m gonna show you one method that I’ve used to greatly improve the speed and accuracy of the under-display fingerprint reader/scanner on my Samsung Galaxy A70, A70s, A71, and A72 smartphones, by;
- Registering my fingerprints multiple times over.
- Increasing the smartphone display sensitivity, and;
- Disabling battery optimization for the under-display fingerprint reader.
And without further ado, let’s get started. #enjoy.

Please Note: that this tutorial or guide is not for those who have a faulty or broken fingerprint reader, sensor or scanner on their Galaxy devices, as this guide will yield little or no result for such persons; you should probably get your phone's fingerprint reader fixed first, before attempting any of the steps on this tutorial.
And with that out of the way, now, let’s get started… #enjoy.
Steps to improve speed and accuracy of the fingerprint reader/scanner on the Samsung Galaxy A70, A70s, A71, and A72.
Step One: Increase your phone’s display touch sensitivity
First thing first, we’ll have to increase the touch sensitivity of our Samsung Galaxy phones; doing this will make the display respond faster to touches, especially for those who have a screen protector applied to their displays, to do this, follow the steps below.
- Go to your phone’s main settings menu.
- Locate the “Display” option, and tap on it to open it.
- A new page with a list of options will be shown to you.
- From this new page, locate the option labeled “Touch sensitivity“, and tap the toggle button beside it to turn it on.
Step Two: Register the same finger twice on your phone.
After we’ve increased the display touch sensitivity on our Samsung Galaxy phones, the next we’ll want to do is register our fingerprints twice or multiple times on our phones.
Doing this will make sure that the fingerprint sensor captures every ridge, edge, and corner of our fingers that wasn’t properly captured during the first registration, to do this, kindly follow the steps below.
- Kindly go back to your phone’s main settings menu.
- This time, locate the “Biometrics and security” option, tap on it to open it, and a new page will be shown to you.
- From this new page, tap on the “Fingerprints” option.
- Delete any already existing registered fingerprints, and tap the “Add fingerprint‘ option to start registering new prints.
- When you’re done registering one finger, tap the “Add fingerprint” option again, and re-register that same finger again, this time while focusing on those parts the fingerprint reader couldn’t capture properly during the first registration, like the edges and corners of the finger.
- Do this for all the fingers that you want registered on your Galaxy A70, A70s, A71, and A72 smartphones.
When you’re done adding your fingerprints, go further down the page, and disable the “Show animation when unlocking” option by turning off the toggle in front of it as you can see from the image above.
Step Three – Disable battery optimization for biometrics
After we’re done adding our fingerprints, the next and final thing left to do is to disable battery optimization for biometrics, doing this will make sure that the fingerprint reader/scanner is always on, and the performance is not been affected by the phone’s battery optimization settings.
To do this, kindly follow the steps below.
- For the last time, go back to your phone’s main settings menu, and tap the search button located at the top-right corner of your phone’s display.
- Type “Special access” in the search bar, and when the option pops up on your screen, tap on it to open it.
- When you do so, a new page with a list of options will be shown to you, tap on the option labeled “Optimize battery usage“.
- A newer page will be shown to you, and from this new page, tap on the search icon located at the top-right corner of your phone’s screen, and type “Biometrics” into the search bar.
- You will see an option that looks like this “com. Samsung.android.biometrics.app.settings” with a toggle in front of it.
- The toggle should be turned on by default, simply tap on it to turn it off, and that’s all.
After you’ve done everything from Step One down to Step Three above, you can kindly turn off your phone’s display, and try unlocking it again using its fingerprint reader, and see if you’ll notice a slight boost in the unlocking speed and its accuracy.
If you do, congratulations, you’ve just slightly improved the unlocking speed and accuracy of the under-display fingerprint reader/scanner on your Samsung Galaxy A70, A70s, A71, and A72 smartphones. #cheers…
