What We Know About the Samsung Galaxy A53
It’s about that time of the year again when everyone is patiently waiting for Samsung to announce its new line of Galaxy A phones, most especially the Galaxy A5x and A7x lineups, and as expected, the Galaxy A53 and A73 will be the successors of the A52 and A72 phones from last year.
So, let’s begin with the A53, also known as the Galaxy A53 5G.
For starters, the Samsung Galaxy A53 is rumored to come with the same screen size as the A52, a 6.5-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel, now take note that the A52 came in two variants, a 4G and 5G model, with the 4G variant spotting a 90Hz AMOLED display, and the 5G having 120Hz panel.
As of now, we only know of the Galaxy A53 5G, and no one knows if there will be a separate 4G version coming alongside it.
But in terms of design, the A53 5G will look largely unchanged from the phone it’s succeeding, of which the A52 series design was loved and generally accepted by all, so, if it ain’t broken, why fix it?

Although one area where Samsung will be making a significant change on the upcoming A53 phone will be on the performance, as it’s rumored to come with an unannounced Samsung’s Exynos 1200 chipset, in fact, Geekbench results are out already showing the single and multi-core performance of this chip.
And like the A52, the Galaxy A53 will be available in 6 and 8GB RAM variants, with the storage options starting from 128GB, and going all the way up to 256GB.
And coming down to the cameras, unsurprisingly, the phone is rumored to come with exactly the same camera setup as the last year’s model, a 64MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and a second 5MP depth sensor, with a 32MP front-facing cam on the front.
And for the first time in history, Samsung is rumored to equip the phone with 8k video recording support which will most likely be capped at 24fps, but this is only a rumor at this stage though, so we have to wait for the arrival of the phone itself before we can confirm if it turns out to be true or not.
And as for the battery, the phone is said to be fitted with a 5000 mAh capacity battery, which is 500 mAh more than what we saw on the A52, and charging speed is said to be capped at 25W with a 15W charger included in the box.
For software, the phone is definitely coming with Android version 12 out of the box, with the latest One UI 4.1 on it.
Other features that we expect to make a return on the Galaxy A53 includes a stereo speaker setup, and IP67 dust and water-resistance rating, and that complete it for the Galaxy A53.
Now let’s talk about the Galaxy A73.

What We Know So Far About the Samsung Galaxy A73
Same as last year, the Samsung Galaxy A73 will basically be a bigger version of the A53, albeit with a larger display, a different chipset this time, and a slightly different overall camera setup.
So, we’re expecting to see a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, rumor has it that the phone will be fitted with a Snapdragon 778G processor, the same chipset that was on the Galaxy A52s 5G from last year, which basically means that we should be expecting a significant bump in the performance of the A73, and the phone will support 5G by default.
ANd below are the Geekbench scores of the chipset.
Another aspect where we’ll be seeing a big change is on the cameras, as rumors have it that instead of the 64MP main cam that was used on the Galaxy A72, the A73 will take things up a notch by using a 108MP main cam with OIS, complete with the 8MP 3x optical telephoto zoom camera that will be carried over from the A72, together with the 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 5MP macro camera.
So, we should be expecting to see improved image quality on this year’s Samsung Galaxy A73 smartphone.
So, apart from the display, processor, and camera, other specs will basically be kept the same with the Galaxy A53, 8k video recording if the rumor turns out to be true, a 5000 mAh capacity battery with 25W fast charging, Android 12 with One UI 4.1 out of the box, stereo speaker setup, and IP67 dust and water resistance rating.
And as for when these phones will be officially announced, nobody knows when exactly that will be, but since Samsung announced the A52 and A72 series during the month of March last year, then it’s safe to assume that the A53 and A73 series will be announced anytime during this month as well.
And this wraps it up for basically everything that we have come to know so far about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A53 and A73 smartphones.
