Steps to set up your own customized hole punch inspired notification LED on your Realme GT phones.
Step One
Quickly make your way down to Google’s Play store and download this called the “aodNotify” app, or better still, you can simply tap the “Install” button below to do same.
When you’re done downloading the app, and have gotten it installed as well, feel free to ahead and open it for the first time, and when you do so, you should be greeted with the app’s welcome screen, and it looks this way.
Next, tap the “NEXT” button at the bottom of your phone’s screen, and when you do so, you’ll be immediately taken to a new page that looks like the screenshot below, and I call this the app’s permission request and granting page.
So, quickly go ahead and grant access to all the necessary permissions the app requests in order to work properly on your phone, and when you’re done doing so, of course, tap the “DONE” button located at the bottom of your phone’s screen, and only then will you be granted access in return, to the app’s main settings menu page, and it looks this way.
Realme GT notification LED – Step Two
From the app’s main settings page, tap on the first setting option there labeled “Notifications“, and you should be taken to a new page that looks this way.
From here, you’ll get to set or select what apps or events will be able to trigger the hole punch notification LED when you receive a new notification from them, or whenever any of such events happen, like having a low battery, plugging in the phone to a power source, when it’s fully charged, etc.
And you can even unlock more of these events when you purchase the Pro version of the app.
So, when you’re done setting things up the way you want them to be on this page, kindly find your way back to the app’s homepage, and this time, tap on the second setting option there labeled “Notification light“, and you should this new page that looks this way.
This page gives you the power to customize your to-be hole punch notification LED on your Realme GT phone, by combining any of the three setting options, namely; Style, Effects, and Dimensions.
“Style” gives you the choice to choose the area of your phone’s screen where you would like the notification light to be displayed, and it is divided into two parts, namely; “Screen is on“, and “Screen is off“.
From the “Screen is on” part, set it to “Disabled” as you can see from the screenshots posted above, while for the “Screen is off” part, set it to “Camera edge“, and don’t bother with the notification light is not properly aligned or positioned with your phone’s camera cutout, as we’ll get to correct that in a bit.
Now, coming down to the “Effects” option, this one gives you the choice to choose from any of the various lighting effects to use for your custom hole punch notification LED. You’ll be given quite a few to make use of at first, and if you purchased the Pro version of the app, more of those effects will be unlocked and made available for you to use.
And finally, “Dimensions” lets you resize and reposition the notification light until it fits perfectly with the actual physical hole punch cutout on your Realme GT phone.
So, by default, the app assumes that your phone’s hole punch cutout is located at the center position at the top of your phone’s screen, so, what we’re going to do now is use the sliders to adjust both the size and position of the notification LED, until it is properly aligned, and has the same size as our Realme phones hole punch cutout.
- The slider labeled “Thickness” lets you adjust how fat or thin that you want the notification light to be.
- “Resize” slider lets you, well, you already know what that one does.
- Slider “Offset position X & Y” lets you adjust the position of the notification LED by giving you the freedom to move it up, down, left, and right.
- While slider “Offset size X and Y” lets you alter the size of the of the notification LED by either enlarging or reducing any of the four sides.
So, go ahead, take your time here, and make sure the notification LED is properly positioned and is well fitted with the hole punch cutout on your Realme GT phone, and when you’re done, kindly meet us on the next step below.
Step Three
So, when you’re done repositioning and resizing your to-be custom hole punch notification LED, now go back to the app’s homepage or main settings menu page, and this time, tap the next setting option you see there labeled “Notification preview“, and you should have a new page that looks this way.
From this page, you’ll get to set how you want the notification previews to look whenever you receive a new notification on your phone.
From here, you’ll get to set the icons that should be shown on the preview, how long you want the preview to stay on, the content of the preview, etc.
So, kindly take your time to customize things to your satisfaction, and when you’re done, make your way back to the app’s homepage, and this time, select the next setting option you see there labeled “Settings“, and once you do so, you should have this new page staring at you.
From here, you’ll get to set how you want the app to behave or interact with your phone when you have an incoming call instead of a notification, should it keep showing the notification LED, or should it not do so.
From here too, you also get the chance to set a double-tap to wake gesture to wake up your device when the hole punch notification LED is active, and that’s pretty much everything you get to do on this page.
And when you’re done, for the last time, go back to the app’s homepage, and this time, tap the next setting option labeled “Colors“, and you should be looking at a new page that looks this way.
Alright, so, this is one very straightforward page that you’ll understand the moment you land it. From here, you’ll get to add life to your custom notification LED by adding colors to it.
If you wish, you can set and use separate colors for individual apps, say something like the color blue for Facebook notifications, green for WhatsApp, etc, and if you so wish, you can keep things simple by choosing one color, and using it as a uniform color for all notifications coming into the phone, notwithstanding what app, or what event triggered the notification.
Realme GT notification LED – Step Four (final step).
Okay, so now that we’re done setting up our custom hole punch notification LED on our Realme GT phones, I think it’s high time that we take it for a spin to confirm that everything we have done so far, is working exactly the way we want them to.
So, at this juncture, go ahead and close the app, and turn off your phone’s screen as well, now try to get a second phone, and with this phone, try using it to send anything that can prompt a notification across to your phone, something like a WhatsApp message, or even a quick regular short text message will do.
Now, this is where the magic happens.
If you have followed the steps and done everything correctly as instructed in this tutorial, once the notification arrives on your phone, you should see the hole punch cutout on your phone glow up to acknowledge and indicate the presence of a new unread notification, and with that, you now have for yourself a new customized hole punch inspired notification LED on your Realme GT 5G, GT Neo and Neo 2, the Neo Flash, the GT Master, and the Explorer Master Edition.
So, kindly let us know in the comments section if this worked for you, and if it didn’t, still let us know the issue you’re facing, and we’ll try to figure it out, and for those who find this tutorial helpful, of course, everyone reading this finds it helpful, so, kindly give it a thumbs up by sharing it, and always, I’ll see y’all tomorrow, #peace out.
