How to set up a customized hole punch inspired notification LED on your Oppo Find X2 and X3 phones.

The Oppo Find X2 and X3 phones still remain the most remarkable Oppo smartphones in my books to date, and to even make them more exciting, today, I’m gonna show you a simple trick that lets you transform the camera hole-punch cutout on these things, to a custom-built hole punch inspired notification LED for your Oppo Find X2, X2 Pro, X2 Neo, and the Oppo Find X3 series as well.

And here’s the type of result we should end up with by the time that we’re done setting things up from the steps which will be listed and discussed in this tutorial shortly.

So, the screenshot posted above showcases the one on the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ devices, but, by following all the steps that I’m gonna be showing you today, we should be able to replicate the same thing, and even do more, on our Oppo Find X2 and X3 phones.

How to set up a hole punch notification LED on your Oppo Find X2 and X3 smartphones.

Step One

First thing first, quickly make your way to the Google Play store, and download this super-cool app, the “aodNotify” app, or better still, simply tap the button that says “Install” below to do the same.

When you’re done downloading the app, and have gotten it installed as well, feel free to ahead and open it for the first time, when you do so, you should be greeted with the app’s welcome screen, and it looks like this way.

Next, of course, tap the “NEXT” button at the bottom of your phone’s screen, and when you do so, you’ll be instantly taken to a new page that looks like the screenshot below, this is the app’s permission request and granting page.

So, do all that the app asks of you from this page by granting all the permissions that will be requested from you, and when you’re done, of course, tap the “DONE” button located at the bottom of your phone’s screen, and in return, the app will grant you access to its main settings menu page, and it looks this way.

Oppo Find X2/X3 notification LED – Step Two

From the app’s main settings page, gently tap the first setting option there labeled “Notifications“, and you should be brought to a new page that looks this way.

From here, you’ll get to set or pick what apps or events that can activate the notification light when you receive a new notification from them or whenever any of such events happen, like your phone’s battery running low, or when the phone gets plugged into a power source, when it’s fully charged, etc.

And you can even unlock more of these events when you purchase the Pro or paid version of the app.

And when you’re done setting things up the way you want them to be, kindly make your way back to the app’s homepage, and this time, tap on the second setting option there labeled “Notification light“, and you should have this new page that looks like this.

This page gives you the freedom to customize the hole punch notification LED on your Oppo Find X2 and X3 smartphones, by combining any of the three setting options, namely; Style, Effects, and Dimensions.

“Style” gives you the choice to select the area or part of your phone’s screen where you would like the notification light to be displayed, and it is divided into two sections, namely; the “Screen is on“, and “Screen is off” sections.

For “Screen is on”, set it to “Disabled“, yeah, we wouldn’t be needing that, while for “Screen is off”, set it to “Camera edge“, and by now you should notice that the notification LED which is the form or shape of a light ring is placed right at the center of your phone’s screen at the top, well, don’t bother, as we’ll soon get to correct that in a bit.

Now, coming to the “Effects” option, this one gives you the choice to choose any of the various lighting effects to use for your hole punch notification LED. Quite a few of them will be made available for you to make use of at first, while you get to unlock the rest when you opt for the paid version of the app.

And finally, coming to “Dimensions“, this one lets you resize and reposition the notification LED until it fits and aligns properly with the actual physical hole-punch cutout on your Oppo Find X2 and X3 mobile smartphones.

By default, the app assumes that your phone’s hole punch cutout is located at the center top position of your phone’s screen, and with the sliders present on this page as you can from the screenshot above, we’re gonna have to adjust the notification light by adjusting the size, and moving it to the left corner of our phone’s screen where the hole punch cutout is located until the both of them are evenly fitted.

• The slider labeled “Thickness” lets you adjust how fat or thin you want the notification light to be.
• The “Resize” slider lets you, well, you already know what that one does.
• Slider “Offset position X & Y” lets you adjust the position of the notification LED by giving you the freedom to move it up, down, left, and right.
• The slider “Offset size X and Y” lets you alter the size of the notification LED by either enlarging or reducing any of the four sides.

So, go ahead, take your time here, and make sure that things are done the way they should be, and when you’re done, kindly meet us at the next step below.

Step Three

So, when you’re done repositioning and resizing your to-be custom hole punch notification LED, now go back to the app’s homepage or main settings menu page, and this time, tap the next setting option you see there labeled “Notification preview“, and you should have a new page that looks this way.

From this page, you’ll get to set how you want the notification preview to look whenever you get a new notification on your phone.

So, you’ll get to set the icons that should be shown on the preview, how long you want the preview to stay on, the content of the preview, the text sizes, and whatnot.

So, kindly take your time to customize things to your satisfaction, and when you’re done, make your way back to the app’s homepage, and this time, select the next setting option you see there labeled “Settings“, and once you do so, you should now be staring at this new page.

From here, you’ll get to set how you want the app to behave or interact with your phone when you have an incoming call instead of a notification, should it keep showing the notification LED, or should it not do so.

From here, you also get the chance to set a double-tap to wake gesture to wake up your device when the notification LED is active, and that’s pretty much everything you get to do on this page.

And when you’re done, for the last time, go back to the app’s homepage, and this time, tap the next setting option labeled “Colors“, and you should be looking at a new page that looks this way.

Alright, so, this is one very straightforward page that you’ll have no hard time understanding, as all you’ll get to do here is add colors to your hole punch notification LED.

So, if you wish, you can use separate colors for separate apps, say something like a blue color for Facebook notifications, green for WhatsApp, etc, and if you so wish, you can keep things simple by choosing one color for all the notifications coming into your phone.

Oppo Find X2/X3 notification LED – Step Four (final step).

Okay, so now that we’re done setting up our custom hole punch notification LED on our Oppo Find phones, I think it’s high time that we take it for a spin to prove that everything we have done so far, is working correctly, and the way we want them to.

So, at this juncture, go ahead and close the app, and turn off your phone’s display as well, now try to get a second phone, and with this phone, use it to send anything that can prompt a new notification to your phone, something like a WhatsApp message, or even a quick regular short text message will do.

And this is where the magic happens.

So, if you have followed the steps, and have done everything correctly as instructed in this tutorial, once the notification arrives on your phone, you should see the camera cutout portion on your phone’s screen lighting up, to confirm and visualize the presence of a new unread notification, and with that, you now have for yourself a new customized hole punch inspired notification LED on your Oppo Find X2, X2 Pro, the X2 Neo, and the Find X3 series as well.
