So in this year alone, OnePlus has unveiled four smartphones consecutively. We’ve had the first OnePlus 7 smartphone, then followed closely by its Pro version, then again we had the OnePlus 7T, and right now we’re at the OnePlus 7T Pro.
Now you see, personally i don’t have a problem with all these numerous OnePlus smartphones scattered all over the place, i mean they can make as much smartphones as they want, and people are gonna still buy them right?
But what i have a problem with is, if you’re gonna make different versions of a single smartphone, then make their differences count, and significant.
Personally i don’t see any reason why OnePlus had to make the 7T Pro smartphone, when they should have just taken all the insignificant additions, and added them to the initial OnePlus 7T, and called it a day.
Oh..! i miss the good old days when we just had to look up for an original OnePlus phone, then some months later, we’ll start expecting its “T” version, and not all these numerous phone littered all over the places, with no pin-point factors to differentiate them.
PLOT TWIST…
But even at that, we can’t argue the fact that the OnePlus 7T Pro is an amazing smartphone, both in terms of looks, camera and performance.
But it still misses out on some things though, with one being the absence of a 3.5mm headphones jack, but i don’t think anyone is gonna be seeing that as a bummer any longer, when even the likes of Samsung have started taking them out from their new smartphones, so i don’t think that is a topic to discuss anymore.
Alright everyone, so since you’ve done well to come this far, let’s us take some of our time, to properly review the new OnePlus 7T Pro smartphone, to see everything that makes it stand out from all other OnePlus phones that have been launched in this year, and secondly, if it’ll be a wise decision to upgrade, if you already own a former OnePlus phone.
So without further ado, let’s get started…. #Shall We?
OnePlus 7T Pro Review – The Design
- Dimensions: 162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8 mm.
- Weight: 206 g (7.27 oz).
- Body: Front Gorilla Glass 6 – Back Gorilla Glass 5, with aluminum frame.
- Color: Haze Blue
So when it comes to design, the OnePlus 7T Pro, is simply no different from the original OnePlus 7 Pro.
They’ve got the same dimensions, display sizes, weight, camera placements, and except you’re a true OnePlus fan, you’re gonna have a pretty hard time, trying to tell them apart.
But just for nit-picking purpose, there’s just a couple of things that makes the 7T Pro version, maybe just a kind of different from the 7 Pro version, in terms of looks.
Now take a second look at the photo above, and you’d see that there is one extra hole beside the camera modules for one of the devices (OnePlus 7T Pro), well that is the laser transmitter and receiver which helps in better and faster focus.
But that doesn’t mean that the 7 Pro hasn’t got one too, cept that it’s own is hidden inside the camera module itself.
And then the second tiny difference between both phones, are their colors. While the Original OnePlus 7 Pro rocked a “Nebula Blue” color, the 7T Pro is rocking something they called the “Haze Blue” blue. Sounds a lot more creepy to me, esp when you pronounce it as “Hades“.
So that’s all about the OnePlus 7T Pro’s design, personally i just love how OnePlus made everything to look simple and neat on this device, without maybe a rounded or squared camera design on it, or even a lot of branding on it. Reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy S10 series.

So in addition to all that, you’ve still got your usuals, dual stereo speakers with no headphones jack (One at the bottom, second one is the earpiece at the top of the phone).
Need i remind you that the screen is completely bezeless, because of it’s pop-up selfie camera, on the right, you’ve got your alert and power buttons, while on the left is your volume rockers.
And finally coming to the bottom, and there you’ll find a single speaker grill, USB-C charging hole, another tiny hole for the microphone, and a sim cards tray.
And that’s all about the designs, now let’s move on to its display.. #Shall We?
OnePlus 7T Pro Review – The Display
- Size: 6.67 Inches.
- Resolution: Quad HD+ (1440 x 3120 pixels).
- Type: Fluid AMOLED, 90Hz refresh rate.
- Protection: Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Even if Samsung’s got one of the best displays in the market today, but OnePlus’s got one of the most interesting ones, a 90Hz refresh rate, Quad HD+ OLED display, duped Fluid AMOLED.
Personally i don’t see anything so special and mind blowing about this 90Hz refresh rate thing, cept that it makes the phone to respond to touches a lot faster than a conventionally 60Hz display would, but just like Marques Brownley said, you will never want to go back to a 60Hz display smartphone, after having an encounter with this one.
So aside that, the display is 6.67 Inches in size, meaning that it is enormous, it is also curved around the sides don’t forget that also, and the most of all, it is void of any bezels, nor notches, meaning that it utilizes a pop-up camera mechanism.
So don’t you think it is about time that we talked about the cameras on this thing? You think so too right? Alright let’s talk about them.
OnePlus 7T Pro Review – The Cameras
- Rear: 48MP Main (Laser auto-focus + OIS) + 16MP Ultrawide (with Macro mode) + 8MP Telephoto (OIS).
- Front: 16MP (Motorised pop-up).
- Features: 720p@960fps Super-slow motion video recording.
Alright so formerly, OnePlus has been known not to really put a lot of attentions on to the cameras on their smartphones, but in this year, it seems the tables have been turned around a bit.
So in as much as they might still not have the best cameras on a smartphone in terms of overall image quality, but the OnePlus 7T Pro, still boasts of one of the most versatile cameras that you can find on a smartphone.
I mean it’s nothing new though, but for a phone that costs a lot less than the likes of the iPhone 11, the Galaxy S10 series and more, then it’s something that is definitely worth talking about.
So the OnePlus 7T Pro’s cameras, are basically what you’d see on the regualar OnePlus 7 Pro, cept for the fact that this one now has an upgraded super-slow motion video recording, 720p@960 frames per second, and then also, a dedicated Macro mode.
In in terms of picture quality, well what more can i say, here’s what they look like.. Be the judge.

OnePlus 7T Pro Review – Hardware, Perfomance & Software
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ (7nm).
- RAM & Storage: 8 or 12GB, with 256GB of storage for both models.
- MicroSD card slot: No.
- Android Version: Android 10.0 Q
- Customised OS: Yes, OxygenOS 10
OnePlus phones have always been known as one of the best android smartphones, in terms of performance, and even in this year, OnePlus is still not ready to give up that crown to anyone.
So unlike the regular OnePlus 7 Pro, the 7T Pro ships with a Snapdragon 855+ chip-set, 8 or 12GB of RAM, a near-pure android (not so customised) software, and a 90Hz display.
And what do all these translate to? A smartphone that is as fast and slippery, as the word fast could get.
It might not be that type of Google Pixel-like kind of fast, because those ones also recently ship with a 90Hz display, same Snapdragon 855+ chipset, and an even not customised at all android 10 software, but without someone telling you so, i bet your senses can’t detect the difference in speed between both phones.
So there’s really nothing much to say here, you already know what it is. The OnePlus brand has grown slowly from being just some affordable devices, now to a fully fledged flagship brand, so you shouldn’t be expecting anything less than a flagship-grade performance on their smartphones.
Now let’s talk about the battery on this thing.
OnePlus 7T Pro Review – Battery
- Size: 4085mAh
- Charging Speed: Fast battery charging 30W (Warp Charge 30T), 0 to 60% in 30 mins (0 to 100 in 69 mins)
- USB: 3.1, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB On-The-Go
So the OnePlus 7T Pro might not have the largest battery, or even the most long lasting battery in the market, but it sure do have something to boast of, in terms of overall charging speed.
With the OnePlus’s new Warp Speed 30T charging technology, the OnePlus fill up 60% of its depleted battery juice, in just 30 mins, placing it on the same leaderboard scale, with the likes of the Huawei P30 and Mate Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ smartphones.
And mind you, the time it takes to bring this same battery from 100 to 0%, is also as good as good as it sounds for the charging speeds.
Miscellaneous and Connectivity.
- Bluetooth: 5.0
- Wireless Charging: No
- Water Resistance rating: None
- Stereo Speakers: Yes, Dolby Atmos
- Fingerprint reader: Under display (Optical)
- Face Unlock: Yes
And this is finally where we call it a day. But one question remains, is it advisable to upgrade to the OnePlus 7T Pro, if you already own something like the regular OnePlus 7 Pro, or even the vanilla OnePlus 7?
Well personally I’d say, if you already own a OnePlus 7 Pro smartphone, then i don’t think it’d be wise going for the 7T Pro, personally i feel that the 7T Pro is just a stunt to rip people off their money, but that’s for people for wants to be ripped off though.
But if you’re coming from something such as the OnePlus 7, or a OnePlus 6 or 6T, then maybe, just maybe, upgrading to the 7T Pro will be a good idea.
But as it has always been, everything still boils down to personal preferences, and how fat everyone’s pocket is.
But in the meantime, do let us know what you think about the OnePlus 7T Pro smartphone in the comments section below, and share this article if you enjoyed reading it.
