Overview
So, to begin with, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were announced in late 2015 as iterative upgrades to the very popular iPhone 6 series that were announced in 2014, which will eventually make them 7 years old in September this year by the time the iPhone 14 series will be announced.
So, if you’re still hell-bent on getting this phone in 2022, here’s basically what you’ll be getting;
A 5.5-inch LCD display with a 1080p resolution, and that’s it. No extra features like a high refresh rate, high brightness, etc.
The phone came running iOS 9 out of the box, and since its inception in 2015, it has enjoyed a total of 6 years of major software updates, bringing the final software version to iOS 15.5, making it the longest software-supported iPhone so far, but that’s where it ends as you wouldn’t be getting any new software updates on this phone any longer.
Coming to the cameras, you’ll be getting a single 12MP rear-facing camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front.
Fun fact, this was the first iPhone to feature a 12MP camera as other iPhones before it like the iPhone 6 had an 8MP snapper, and not only that, it was also the first iPhone to support 4K resolution video recording capped at 30fps (frames per second) using its rear camera, while the front-facing camera was still limited to just 720@30fps like the others.
So, the point I’m trying to make is, if part of the reasons for buying this phone in 2022 is because of the cameras, well, being an almost 7-year-old device, I wouldn’t say it’s the best around, but again, it isn’t the worst still.
Moving further, in terms of performance, the iPhone 6S Plus is powered by the Apple A9 chipset, it’s a 14 nm Dual-core processor that’s paired with just 2GB of RAM, a far cry from the host of Octa-core and >8GB RAM phones we have today, but again, with Apple’s close optimization of the iOS system, I’ll say that the phone will deliver usable performance for day-to-day use, but anything beyond that will be an overkill for the chipset inside of it.
Other features of the iPhone 6S Plus include the aluminum body that was lifted from the iPhone 6 series, and like those, it makes it one of the sleekest-looking and slimmest iPhones to date.
So, if you’re looking for some of the cheapest means to use an Apple smartphone without feeling like you’re using a very outdated device, then the iPhone 6S Plus might just be your best bet aside from that, I don’t see any other reason why anyone would want to buy this device in 2022 if you’d ask me, I’ll say the iPhone 8 is a better device as it’s still being supported by Apple in terms of software updates, and is on the list of devices that will be getting the new iOS 16 update when its finally made official.
But that’s that, and that’s all about the iPhone 6S Plus price in Nigeria UK and its brief overview, below are the full specifications of the phone.
