Now to cut the long story short, the Tecno Camon 16 Premier is simply a rebranded Infinix Zero 8, and the Infinix Zero 8 is the original Tecno Camon 16 Premier.
What I’m trying to say is this, no matter which one among these two phones that you go for, you’re simply getting the same phone on both. What you get on the Zero 8 is same thing you’d get on the Camon 16 Premier, and vice versa.
If you’re in doubt, or you need more clarification, you can follow the link below to GSMArena’s webpage where we compared the Tecno Camon 16 Premier to its twin brother, the Infinix Zero 8.

And with that out of the way, let’s start with the basics.
Launch Date, Design, & Display
The Infinix Zero 8 was launched, i think that should be during late August this year, precisely on the 27th day, and just one week later, during the early days of September, 4th day to be precise, Tecno took the veils off its Camon 16 Premier phone too.
Aside from the two phones having very similar launch dates, the two phones also happen to have a lot of things in common. In fact, not just a lot of things, they literally and practically have everything in common, starting with their designs.
Like every other 2020-launched android mid-range phone out there, the two phones are rectangular in shape, they both ship with a polycarbonate (plastic) body design, with 6.9 Inches dual hole punched displays on the front.
Take away their rear camera modules and company branding, and you wouldn’t be able to tell which one is which. They both have their fingerprint readers located at the same position, that is, built together with their power buttons, and volume rockers just above it.
They both come with same USB 2.0 Type-C ports at the bottom, alongside some mono-speaker grills, a 3.5mm headphone jack on both, and of course, a microphone hole.
Moving on to their displays and like i said earlier, they both feature 6.85 Inches (approx. 6.9″) Full HD+ LCD panels that are capable of refreshing at a rate of 90Hz.
Still on the displays but deviating a bit, you can see that there is a dual hole punch camera cutout on both, and they both feature a 48MP wide and 8MP ultra-wide camera combo, and i trust that you’d get exactly the same photo results on both.
While on the back, first is the presence of a square camera module on the Camon 16 Premier, while the Zero 8 has its own camera module slightly bent to one side to make it look like a diamond shape, or a rhombus as some people like to call it.
Aside from that, they both feature exactly the same camera lenses. A 64MP main wide angle camera, followed closely by a 8MP ultra-wide, still followed closely by a 2MP depth sensor, and then on a Camon 16 Premier, we have a second 2MP lens that Tecno says it is a dedicated video camera, while that of the Zero 8 is a regular 2MP macro lens.
Whichever one of these phones camera that you take photos with, you should be getting exactly the same results in picture and video quality.
Did i also mention that they can both shoot videos at a 4k resolution at 30fps(frames per seconds) for both their front and rear cameras, and can even do super-slow motion video recording at a resolution of 720p?
Infinix Zero 8 vs Tecno Camon 16 Premier – Performance & Battery
In terms of performance, you’re getting a Mediatek Helio G90T processor on both, coupled together with 8GBs of RAM and a 128GB of storage combo.
For those who don’t know, the Helio G90T is one of Mediatek’s gaming optimized chipsets that were unveiled and brought to limelight sometime around last year, and considering the fact that this particular chip has proven itself to be a very capable processor both in terms of heavy gameplays and in overall everyday use of some of the smartphones that it features in, i don’t think anyone will have any issues of lag or stutter, while using any of these two smartphones in question, the Infinix Zero 8 or the Tecno Camon 16 Premier.

In terms of battery, they both feature the same 4500mAh that is capable of going from 0-60% in less than half an hour (30mins), and up to 100% in an hour and 25 mins, all thanks to the 33W fast charging feature that is bundled with the both of them.
Software
Like every other 2020-launched android smartphone out there, both phones ship with android version 10 out of the box, with their respective proprietary custom skins on top of it.
While the Infinix Zero 8 rocks the latest version of Infinix own XOS software, the XOS 7 Dolphin, the Tecno Camon 16 Premier rocks a similar Tecno’s own HIOS 7 skin on it as well. The both OS or UI are very similar both in terms of looks and functionality.

They both come with a mouthful of bloatware apps and advertisement that are littered all over the UI. You’ll see them on your homescreen, in your app drawer, notifications panel, settings menu, everywhere.
It’s a good thing that you can disable, and in some cases, uninstall some of those apps that are in charge of those advertisement. But one painful truthful is, neither of these phones will be getting updated to a new android version (android 11) even when they cost slightly more than a hundred thousand naira to acquire.
Yes i said so, at least for now, and for the fact that neither Infinix nor Tecno has ever cared to update any of their smartphones to newer android versions. So if you’re planning on getting anyone of both phones, just have it at the back of your mind that you’d be stuck with the android 10 version that they both ship with, except things decide to turn around for good in the future.
Pricing & Availability
The both phones are currently available for sale, and they’re both priced similarly too. While the Infinix Zero 8 is being officially sold for 116,000 NGN on Infinix mobile official online retail store, XPark, i can’t seem to find anywhere on the world wide web where the official price for the Tecno Camon 16 Premier is being stated.
But a trusted Nigerian Youtuber, Fisayo Fosudo has clearly stated in his review video that the phone is priced for 115,800 NGN.
Infinix Zero 8 vs Tecno Camon 16 Premier – Conclusion
So in conclusion, if you’d ask me which one among these two phones is the better choice, or which one of them will i readily recommend to someone if i am in the position to?
Well, i will say that in this case, it’s no longer a battle of which one is better than the other one, as you can clearly see that they’re both the same phones, under different brandings.
So i will conclude by saying that it is now a case of which brand among the two do you personally identify more with? I mean, which brand do you like or trust more than the other?
Personally, if left to choose, I’d pick the Zero 8 over the Tecno Camon 16 Premier, at any time, and on any day, not because the Zero 8 is better than the Camon 16 Premier in any way, but simply because I’m more fond and identify better with the Infinix brand, compared to that of Tecno.
So that will be all for today guys. Do give this post a thumbs up by sharing it if you enjoyed it, and as always, I’ll see you all tomorrow, #Peace Out.
