Though not official in Nigeria, but Infinix has unveiled its latest S5 Pro smartphone in India, personally i will not say that this is a successor to last year’s original S5, instead i will say that the S5 Pro, is a sequel to the last year’s S5.
So today, we’ll be taking a quick look at the new smartphone, to see why Infinix couldn’t wait till due time in order to launch the S6, but instead decided to launch a Pro variant of it’s already amazing S5 smartphone. So without further ado, let’s get started.

Infinix S5 Pro Unboxing and Quick Hands-On Review
To start with, the Infinix S5 Pro comes in a green painted retail box, with just the phone branding on it, and a bold imprinted S5 Pro lettering on it.
When you open it, you get all the usuals. The smartphone itself, a transparent rubber case, nylon screen protector, a 10W charger brick with micro-USB 2.0 cable, no earphones, and that’s all.
Turning the phone on for the first time, and you’ll be greeted with that new 1080p (Full HD+) 6.53 Inch uninterrupted display.
And when i say uninterrupted, i mean the screen is void of any notch, nor hole punch camera cutouts. Here, just take a look at this. Looks more like a OnePlus device to me.
Remember that last year’s S5 resolution was 720p (HD+), but if only this was an OLED panel, it would have made more sense.
As you saw from the specifications table, the phone runs Android 10 out of the box, making it the first Infinix smartphone to ship with the new android operating system out of the box.
And not only that, it also makes it the first Infinix smartphone to ship with Infinix new XOS 6.0 Dolphin UI out of the box as well, which is based on the said android 10 operating system.
We haven’t had the opportunity to handle the Infinix S5 Pro ourselves, so at the moment, i can’t say much about what the software experience on the Infinix S5 feels like, or even the new features that XOS 6.0 Dolphin brings along with it.
But once we do, we’ll make sure to let you guys know with a separate article on that.
And by the way, if you own the Infinix Note 5 or Note 5 Stylus smartphones, follow the link below to see how you can update yours to the said android 10 operating system. #Cheers.

Sides from shipping with Android 10, under the hood is a Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 processor with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of storage, which can be further expanded for up to an additional 256GB via a dedicated micro-SD card slot, making it on par with last year’s Infinix Note 6 smartphone.

In terms of size, the phone falls in the same size range with the Infinix S5 and Infinix Hot 8 smartphones, both from last year, though slightly heftier this time, at 198g.
The phone ships mainly in two colors, Violet, and Forest green. Though I’ve been seeing some other colors on the internet such as Pink, well i can’t confirm that for now, maybe they’ll be launching those ones in other regions.
In terms of camera, permit me to say that the Infinix S5 packs a slight punch. A 48MP main shooter (first on any Infinix device), a 2MP depth sensor, alongside a low-light sensor as well, and that’s all.
And then at the front, you’d get a 16MP snapper, built into a pop-up mechanism. Though i haven’t tested the front facing camera myself, but i think it’s a downgrade from last year’s Infinix S4 and S5 32MP front facing snappers.
Now after all said and done, powering the Infinix S5 Pro is a 4000mAh cell, though i initially thought this phone will be coming with nothing less than a 5000mAh battery like a Hot 8, since it is a Pro variant. But all thanks to Infinix, my expectations were cut short.
As if cutting my expectations short wasn’t enough, Infinix still had the mind to ship a phone in 2020 with a micro-USB 2.0 charging port. I mean who does that? Haven’t we had enough of this bullsh*t from Infinix already?
So that is it guys.
