So finally, Infinix has launched their latest S4 smartphone, a successor to last year’s Infinix S3, and forgive me for saying this, but i must confess that this is a phone that makes me feel like Infinix is beginning to listen and pay attention to the many complaints from their fans, about their phones launching with the same specs and hardware year after year, with no major upgrades, especially here in Nigeria.
So unlike other Infinix devices or smartphones rather, that were launched throughout last year down to early this year, the Infinix S4 looks completely revamped and very different from its predecessor, both in terms of design and specs.
For example, it ships with and is the first Infinix smartphone to ship with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, it also has a new glass body design, though not the first Infinix phone to ship with a glass body, the Zero 6 already did, but it is the first Infinix phone from the S lineups to have that.
It is also the first Infinix smartphone to have triple rear cameras at its back and a lot more other interesting spec that everyone is probably gonna be excited for.
And for a quick preview, here’s the complete spec sheet for the Infinix S4 smartphone.

Infinix S4 Review – The Design
So in terms of design and as you already read up there from the spec sheet, it has a 2.5D front and back glass covering, which makes it look so much premium, beautiful, stunning and more 2019-like if there’s actually any word such as that.
And it even goes further to make it look much more expensive than it actually is.
Now just as i already said before, this is not the first Infinix smart phone out there to ship with a front and back glass body design, the Zero 6 was the first to pull such stunt, but i’m very sure this is the one a lot of people out there are actually gonna go for, because why not, it is way less expensive than the Zero 6, and ships with a triple rear camera setup. And speaking of cameras..
Infinix S4 Review – Camera
Oh… boy what do we have here?.. a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP depth sensing camera, and lastly, a 2MP ultra wide camera. Now tell me, what more could you ever ask for?.
And that is not even all. Now turn this same smart phone to its front, and sitting inside its notch, oh yes, the Infinix S4 has a new teardrop or water drop notch whatever, that sits at the middle on the top of its 6.26 Inches 720p × 1520 HD+ display, which makes media consumption and playing games on this device, much more immersive than it is on other Infinix devices with a rectangularly shaped iPhone X styled notches on them.
But if only the display itself is a Full HD resolution display instead of the regular HD+ that it came with, then it would have made more sense with the teardrop notch on it.
But personally i don’t see anything that is wrong with it, since for a lot of folks who are gonna be buying this phone, the display resolution is one of the least things that they’re probably gonna be concerned about, because they’re probably gonna be carried away by the new notch, the new Android version and most of all, the triple rear cameras, so they’re not gonna be having any problems or concerns as to the display resolution, except for persons like me you know.
So sitting in the notch is a large 32MP sensor for taking selfies and all of that, and i’m pretty sure it’s also gonna be responsible for face unlocking on this device.
And speaking of face unlocking, i must say that it is pretty fast, like very fast on this device when it was tested out, like i can pretty much say that it is faster than the regular fingerprint unlocking, and it was even able to capture our faces in the dark, but don’t be carried away, it is still no where more secured than the traditional fingerprint unlocking that we’re used to.
And moving unto other things, we have two variants of this phone, there is the 3GB RAM version with a 32GB of storage, and a larger 6GB version with 64GB of Storage.
Both has a Mediatek Helio P22 processor running on the inside, and ships with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, making it the first Infinix phone to ship with Android Pie, and i pray Infinix does something similar on its other already released Infinix devices like the Hot 6, Hot S3, S3X, 6X and all other Infinix smartphones that are eligible to get Android 9.0 Pie update.
And in the meantime, here’s a list of all Infinix smart phones that are currently eligible to get the update to Android 9.0 Pie.
So because this phone ships with Android pie, it also ships with the latest version of Infinix XOS UI, the XOS 5.0 Cheetah.
Now i don’t know what it is with Infinix launching new versions of XOS with every new phone launch, i mean it’s not even been quite long that they launched XOS 4.0 Honeybee, and now we have a Cheetah.
Personally, i don’t see any major differences in them, except from some minor icon readjustment that they made on this current version.
I mean going all the way back to XOS 3.0 Hummingbird or even the 2.1 Chameleon, i don’t see anything that has changed or anything that was added or removed, so why fix it if it is not broken?
But whatever the issue is with Infinix releasing new versions of XOS UI every now and then, i don’t know what it is and i don’t even want to know, all i care is that they give us the best that we deserve.. Period.
The phone also has the ability to let you hide the water drop notch, and here is what it looks like when you do so.
And because this is still Android Pie, you also get the ability to choose between the native three buttons navigation system, the gesture navigation, or a mixture of both, like this, and you can as well change the positions of the navigation buttons.
You also get a new feature exclusive to XOS 5.0 Cheetah, called the Smart Panel. Just say it is Infinix’s own version of Samsung’s Edge panel.
So when activated, you’d get a small vertically placed rectangular button at the edge of the screen, you can tap on it or swipe it to the center of the screen and you’ll be greeted with something that looks like a mini app drawer, you can add up to nine apps in there probably your most used most used apps and three utility tools in there as well.
And what does it do? Simple, instead of closing an app that you’re currently making use of and opening the phone’s app drawer just because you want to make use of or open another app, just tap on the button by the side if your screen, select the app you want to open, and that is all, as quick as possible.
Other things you will want to take note of is the phone’s pretty large 4000mAh battery and its price too.
So we have a 49,900 Naira price tag for the 3GB + 32GB version, and a 64,500 Naira price tag for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version.
A very nice bargain if you’d ask me, like considering its design, triple rear cameras, latest android version and its large battery, I’ll say the phone is not pretty bad after all.. Like who even said it was bad in the first place?
So here’s what i got to say for the Infinix S4 smart phone. For design first of all, I’ll say it is top notch, beautiful, looks premium, expensive and more 2019-like.
The cameras are wonderful as well, talk about software and you’re getting nothing but the latest and the best at least for now, while performance is very good too, the battery is immortal and lest i forget, there are three very cool colors that are available for it.
There is the Twilight purple as you’d probably have noticed, then there is the Nebula blue, and finally the midnight black.
So that is all that there is to it for the Infinix S4 guys, let us know your thoughts about this smart phone in the comments section below, if you enjoyed reading this article, give us a thumbs up by subscribing to our newsletter if you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to keep spreading our gospel by sharing this article, and as always, I’ll see you all tomorrow.. #Peace Out
