Alright so in case you don’t know, here is a short list of the many interesting things that makes the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro a very interesting smart phone to buy in 2018.
- Very solid and beautiful design with curved screen.. actually the first smart phone with a notch that i fell in love with and felt very comfortable with.
- New Leica Triple Rear Cameras
- A new fast In-display fingerprint reader, coupled with a very secured Face ID
- Very large 4200mAh Power Battery with very fast charging capabilities.. Can go 0% to 70% in just 30mins
- Reverse Wireless Charging
Now if anyone should ask me right now, what i think of the just newly released Huawei Mate 20 Pro smart phone, i will simply say, the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro is a smart phone that has come to set the pace and a path for all other smart phones to follow… period.
So Huawei knew that the competition nowadays in the smart phones industry was so tight, and if they keep playing the game of throwing a bunch of stuffs on the wall and looking for what sticks, they are not going to get anywhere with it, so they had to give in all they had, and what did they come out with, a very high performing and capable smart phone that is capable of kicking a lot of asses in 2108.. So right now, lets talk about every single specs and features that this phone brought along with it..
So first and as usual, let’s talk about the…
1. The Design
So for design, well even though the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro follows the same design language as every other flagship smart phone that has been released this year in 2018, you know, just pick some pieces of internals, bring and couple and solder them together, then just take two large pieces of glasses and slam one on the front, another one at the back, and call it a day, you still can’t deny the fact that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is just a beauty to behold…
With its tall 6.39 Inched curved display that looks very much like that of a Samsung, and even more beautiful than what you’d get on a Samsung because of its complete bezeless design, and the Square Shaped camera module at the back, of which i’ve heard a lot of people complaining that they don’t dig with it, because it looks ugly to them, but personally, i think it is just cool and all.. At least even if the camera arrangement is ugly as you might have thought, the camera performance itself and what they are capable of doing, will still give you so many reasons to appreciate them and probably fall in love with them… So let’s talk about the Cameras..
2. The Cameras..
Well for the cameras.. now one thing you first of all have to know is this.. Huawei once did it with its earlier Huawei P20 Pro, and it gave them a very high score in the top flagship camera smart phone leader board, so they came back to try their luck once more with this new Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and guess what, they just did it right..
So with this new Mate phone, you’re getting three lenses, or lets say four lenses in total, three on the back and one at the front. On the back there is, first, a 40MP lens with an F/1.8 aperture, which Huawei says is the standard lens for the phone.. Then there is another 20MP lens with an F/2.2 aperture, which they also claim is an Ultra Wide Angle lens. And then lastly, there is another 8MP Lens with an F/2.4 aperture, which in this case, is a Telephoto lens.. Now if you watch very closely, you will notice that we didn’t mention anything like an RBG Lens and a separate Monochrome lens, yes that is because, Huawei has finally seen that there is no use for that, so they said goodbye to it.. Goodbye Monochrome lens..
Okay that was for the back, now let’s talk about what we have on the front… So coming to the front of the device, now one thing you have to know first is that there is a notch. And inside that notch, we have a single 24MP lens, with an F/2.0 aperture, which i think is a very worthy upgrade from the mediocre 8MP lens we saw last on the last year’s Mate 10 Pro.
Still inside the notch, i think it is worth noting that this same 24MP lens camera also acts as the phone’s face unlock or face ID sensor.. but that is not all… it went as far as using stuffs like 3D depth mapping, which includes stuffs like Infrared Lighting, Flood Illuminator, 3D Dot Projector among many other things that are included in the notch, to make sure that it is as secured as that of the iPhones..

But that is still not all.. now sliding all the way down from the notch, and down to somewhere at the middle of the screen of the device, there lies a real life working and fast In-display Fingerprint reader.. well then, since we are here already, why not we take some time to discuss extensively on it.. shall we..?
3. The Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro In-display Fingerprint Reader
Now the thing is, first of all, i’m not going to be saying much on this topic.. reason is because, actually the new Huawei Mate phone is not the first smart phone to come up with stuffs like this, but one thing you have to know is this, this is actually the very first smart phone that made us to believe and agree strongly, that yes, there is actually an in-display fingerprint smart phone that could be as secured and as fast as the normal everyday fingerprint reader that everyone is used to..
So with that, you get two different stylish options to unlock your phone, if you’re not using the Face Unlock maybe for some personal reasons which are best known to you, then you should probably be using the new In-display fingerprint unlock… cool right..?
4. Battery, More Battery, And Still More Battery
So last year’s Mate 10 Pro shipped with a very large 4000mAh Power Battery, and Huawei still took it up a notch this year by topping that size with an additional 200mAh, making it a total of 4200mAh Power Battery for this year’s Mate 20 Pro, which also makes it 200mAh bigger than what you’d get on a Galaxy Note 9..and not only that, in spite of all these big battery sizes here and there, Huawei still claimed the battery can literally go from a complete 0% up to a whooping 70% in just a few 30mins of charging… Now that’s some real fast dude there..
And that is not still all.. Now because this phone shipped with a very large battery, Huawei thought it’d be nice to make the phone share some of its juice with some lesser phones with lesser batteries, phones like the Apple iPhone XS and XS Max, and so they included something that no one has done or seen on any smart phone before… and they called it The Reverse Wireless Charging..
Now how does it work..? Simple, just take your other smart phone which is low on battery and also supports wireless charging, place it on top of the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and walla… the phone starts charging immediately… no cable needed, no hassle needed… life becomes easy for everyone..
