Without needing anyone to tell you, you should know by now that the Phantom X is Tecno’s yet best smartphone, both in terms of build quality, cameras, and other features.
To start with, it’s a premium smartphone, and as such, it has a premium price tag attached to it.
So, for a starting price of about ₦200,000 here in Nigeria, you’re getting the first curved display ever used on a Tecno smartphone, it’s a 6.7 inches 1080p+ AMOLED panel, one that refreshes at a fast 90Hz screen refresh rate, and is protected using a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5, both on the front of the phone and the back of it.

Moving away from the display, the Tecno Phantom X comes armed with a triple rear camera setup, a large 50MP sensor acting as the main camera, and just for the facts, this is currently the largest camera sensor ever used on a Tecno mobile phone to date, and it’s the exact same sensor used on even more expensive flagship phones like the Vivo X60 Pro+.
Apart from the main camera sensor, the other two sensors still on the back of the phone includes; a 13MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, and just so you know, this was the first telephoto camera sensor to be ever seen on a Tecno smartphone, and the last sensor comes in as an 8MP 120° ultrawide camera sensor.
And coming to the front is a 48MP main front-facing camera sensor and an 8MP ultrawide.
Being a premium smartphone, one of the features that we’ve come to expect is an under-display fingerprint reader, and “Yes”, the Phantom X has one.
For performance, the Phantom X uses a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset which is among the fastest that you can find on any Tecno phone to date, and it is outfitted with a single RAM and storage selection, coming in at 8GB and 256GB respectively.
The phone is fitted with a 4700 mAh capacity battery which is complemented with a 33W fast charging system.
So, if you want to use the best out of the best phones that Tecno has ever produced to date, then the Phantom X is currently the best Tecno mobile phone that you can get your hands on right now.

And coming to the Camon side of things, the Camon 18 Premier is currently the best Tecno Camon smartphone that you can get in 2022, and in a way, it might even seem like the overall best Tecno phone anyone can right now.
To kick things off, like the Phantom X, it comes with a premium glass build, a never seen before feature from the Tecno Camon line of smartphones, has the same 6.7 inches sized display as the Phantom X, it’s not curved this time, but it’s still an AMOLED panel, and comes with an even screen refresh rate, ticking the clock at 120Hz.
The processor used here is a MediaTek Helio G96 which is basically a renamed Helio G95 that was used on the Phantom X, and it comes with same 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage capacity.
For cameras, the Camon 18 Premier packs a 64MP main camera, an 8MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and just for the records, this is actually the first “periscope” telephoto camera lens to be used on a Tecno phone, and the last sensor is a 13MP ultrawide sensor with a unique gimbal stabilization system, take as an “Optical image stabilization” system, but on steroids.
And moving further, the Camon 18 Premier comes fitted with a 4750 mAh capacity battery, complete with a 33W fast charging system.
So, in conclusion, if you’re looking for the overall best Tecno Camon phone that your hands can get to right now, then this is the one, the Tecno Camon 18 Premier.
3. Tecno Camon 18P
- Announced, Oct 2021.
- 6.8 Inches, 1080p (Full HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 120Hz refresh rate
- 48MP triple rear cameras.
- 16MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio G96 (12 nm) processor.
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 8.0
- 5000 mAh battery
- 33W fast charging.
- Price: ₦128,990
Buy now: Tecno Camon 18P (8/128GB), ₦128,990, Jumia.
The Tecno Camon 18P takes after the Camon 18 Premier, strips down a handful of features from it, and as such, significantly brings the price down for people who couldn’t afford the Premier variant.
So, on here, there’s a slightly larger 6.8 inches 1080p+ display, the AMOLED panel has been dropped in favor of LCD, but it retains the blazing-fast 120Hz screen refresh rate.
You still get the MediaTek Helio G96 chipset coupled with a single selection of 8GB of RAM capacity, but instead of the ample 256GB internal storage capacity as seen on the Premier variant, you now get a still enough 128GB internal storage capacity.
And coming to the cameras, though you still get a triple rear camera setup, the 64MP main camera has been swapped and replaced by a 48MP variant, you also lose the 8MP periscope telephoto lens, but gains a 13MP regular telephoto sensor in place of it, and lastly, a 2MP depth sensor.
And coming to the front, you lose the 32MP front-facing camera and gain a 16MP variant.
The battery on here has been 1upped to 5000 mAh capacity, and you still get to keep the 33W fast charging system.
So, if you feel the Camon 18 Premier is too expensive for you to afford, then at a significantly lesser price, the Camon 18P will give you similar specs and features as the Premier variant, thereby making it still one of the best Tecno Camon phones you can buy in 2022.
4. Tecno Camon 18
- Announced, Oct 2021.
- 6.8 Inches, 1080p (Full HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 90Hz refresh rate
- 48MP triple rear cameras.
- 16MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio G88 (12 nm) processor.
- 4/6GB RAM + 128GB storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 8.0
- 5000 mAh battery
- 18W fast charging.
- Price: ₦107,500
Buy now: Tecno Camon 18 (4/128GB), ₦107,500, Jumia.
And in a bid to bring the price down even further, Tecno strips down a handful of specs and features from the Camon 18P, and that was how the vanilla Camon 18 was birthed.
So, on here, we have the same 6.8 inches sized display as the 18P, but the 120Hz screen refresh rate has been dropped for a lesser 90Hz variant, which is still very smooth when scrolling across the phone’s UI.
The MediaTek Helio G96 processor on the C18P has been swapped in favor of a slightly less powerful Helio G88 variant which is still plenty fast and will leave you not wanting for more, and you get to choose between 4 or 6GB of RAM, both with 128GB of storage capacity.
And coming to the camera side of things, though you still get to keep the 48MP main camera sensor from the Camon 18P, you lose out on the 13MP telephoto sensor, and has been replaced by a 2MP macro cam, followed by the normal 2MP depth sensor, while on the front, you still get to keep the 16MP front-facing sensor from the C18P.
For power, the 5000 mAh capacity battery from the C18P is still present here, but you lose the 33W fast charging, and instead get an 18W variant which is still plenty fast if you asked me.
So, in conclusion, if you feel the Camon 18P is still too expensive for you to afford, then coming with a slightly lesser price tag with a bunch of stripped-down features, you can get the vanilla Tecno Camon 18, and still get the same vibes as you will do on the 18P, making it still one of the best Tecno Camon phones to get in 2022.
5. Tecno Camon 18i
- Announced, Nov 2021.
- 6.6 Inches, 720p (HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 90Hz refresh rate
- 48MP triple rear cameras.
- 8MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio G85 (12 nm) processor.
- 4GB RAM + 128GB storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 7.6
- 5000 mAh battery
- 18W fast charging.
- Price: ₦89,990
Buy now: Tecno Camon 18i (4/128GB), ₦89,990, Jumia.
The Camon 18i was announced separately from the rest of the Camon 18 family, and it is the cheapest Tecno phone under the Camon 18 family that you can find right now.
So, being the cheapest smartphone among the rest, you get a smaller 6.6 inches LCD display, but still get to keep the 90Hz screen refresh rate.
The MediaTek Helio G88 chipset on the Camon 18 has been swapped in favor of a Helio G85 variant on the 18i, and you get just a single RAM and storage selection of 4 and 128GB respectively.
For cameras, we’re looking at a 48MP main cam, followed by a 2MP depth sensor, and a third AI sensor, while sitting on the front is an 8MP front-facing cam.
Like the Camon 18 it took after, the phone carries a 5000 mAh capacity battery tank, complete with an 18W fast charging system.
So, if you couldn’t afford any of the rest of Tecno Camon 18 smartphones listed and discussed in this article so far, for just about ₦85,000, you can settle for the cheapest one among the bunch, while still getting the same vibes as you’d get from the rest.
6. Tecno Camon 17 Pro
- Announced, May 2021.
- 6.8 Inches, 1080p (Full HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 90Hz refresh rate.
- 64MP quad rear cameras.
- 4k@30fps, 1080p@30fps.
- 48MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio G95 (12nm) processor.
- 8GB RAM + 128/256GB storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 7.6
- 5000 mAh battery
- 25W fast charging
- Price: ₦145,000.
Buy now: Tecno Camon 17 Pro (8/256GB), ₦143,100, Jumia.
The Tecno Camon 17 Pro is right now, what once used to be the best Tecno Camon smartphone you could ever get until the Camon 18 Premier happened, but it still doesn’t make any less of a great Tecno device.
So, on here, we’re looking at 6.8 inches sized 1080p+ LCD display, one that refreshes at a 90Hz screen refresh rate.
The Camon 17 Pro uses a MediaTek G95 chipset which is basically no different from the Helio G96 seen on the Camon 18 Premier, and it comes with 8GB of RAM, and 256GB internal storage.
Coming to the cameras, you get the same main camera sensor as on the 18 Premier, a 64MP sensor, and this is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and two separate 2MP sensors, one for depth, and the other one acting as a monochrome color sensor, while sitting on the front is a 48MP front-facing camera.
The Camon 17 Pro has a 5000 mAh battery tank, and it can do up to 33W of fast charging.
So, the take here is, if at a hundred and seventy-seven thousand nairas, you feel that the Camon 18 Premier is too expensive for you to afford, then at just a hundred and forty-five thousand nairas, the Camon 17 Pro will give you same spec grade as the 18 Premier especially in terms of performance, cameras, and battery, making it still one of the best Tecno Camon phones to buy in 2022, even if it is close to a year old and has been replaced by newer models.

Buy Now: Tecno Camon 17P (6/128GB), ₦112,000, Jumia.
Coming in at a slightly lower price tag, the Tecno Camon 17P strips a handful of features from the Pro variant.
So, to start with, you get the same 6.8 inches sized 1080p+ LCD display as on the Camon 17 Pro but drops the 90Hz screen refresh rate.
It keeps the 64MP main camera sensor but drops the 8MP ultrawide in favor of a 2MP macro cam, another 2MP depth sensor, and a 4th AI cam, while on the front sits a 16MP front-facing sensor.
The processor used here is the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset which is still blazing fast if you asked me, and it is complemented with 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage capacity.
The Camon 17P keeps the ample 5000 mAh capacity battery from the Pro variant but drops the 33W fast charging in favor of an 18W variant.
So, if the Camon 17 Pro is too expensive for you, then at a slightly lesser price tag, the Camon 17P is still one of the best Tecno Camon phones anyone can get in 2022, giving you very similar specs and features as the 17 Pro while keeping the price low.

The best Tecno Pova phones of 2022
8. Tecno Pova 5G
- Announced, Dec 2021.
- 6.9 inches, 1080p+ (Full HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 120Hz screen refresh rate.
- 50MP triple rear cameras.
- 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps
- 16MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G (6 nm) processor.
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage.
- UFS 3.1
- Android 11 + HiOS 8.0
- 6000 mAh battery
- 18W fast charging.
- Price: N/A
The Tecno Pova 5G was announced just recently, precisely in late Dec 2021, and as you can tell, this is currently the best Tecno Pova phone that money can buy right now, and as a matter of fact, it is also the most powerful and fastest running Tecno mobile phone on the planet right now.
And that’s because, this is the first time that Tecno is actually taking a break from using the MediaTek Helio G processors on its smartphones and has instead used something from the Dimensity lineup, the MediaTek Dimensity 900, and it is paired with 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, and we hope that Tecno continues this new trend on its subsequent phones that will be launched this year.
So, aside from the processor, the Tecno Pova 5G is packing the largest display size on a Tecno phone yet, a gargantuan 6.9 inches sized 1080p+ LCD display, with the screen refresh rate ticking the clock at 120Hz.
The cameras come in at a 50MP main rear sensor which is complemented by a 2MP depth sensor, and a third QVGA sensor, while sitting in a hole-punch cutout on the front of the huge display is a 16MP front-facing camera sensor.
And as for power, the Tecno Pova 5G is rocking a huge 6000 mAh capacity battery, which is among the largest on Tecno smartphones to date.
So, in conclusion, if you want to rock the latest Tecno Pova smartphone, and not even just the latest, if you want a Tecno smartphone that combines both a large display, the superfast 5G processor, and a large battery all in one package, then the Pova 5G is currently the best Tecno phone that you can buy right now.
9. Tecno Pova 2
- Announced, June 2021.
- 6.9 inches, 1080p+ (Full HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 48MP quad rear cameras.
- 1440p@30fps, 1080p@30fps.
- 8MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio G85 (12 nm) processor.
- 4/6GB RAM + 64/128GB storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 7.6
- 7000 mAh battery
- 18W fast charging.
- Price: ₦90,000 – 125,000.
Buy now: Tecno Pova 2 (6/128GB), ₦110,990, Jumia.
The Tecno Pova 2 used to be the best Tecno Pova phone anyone could get back in 2021, before the Pova 5G came on board, but even while having been replaced by a newer model, the Pova 2 is still a very solid Tecno smartphone, especially for those who wants to spend less for more.
So, to kick things off, you get the same gargantuan 6.9 inches sized display as on the newer 5G model, still, it’s a 1080p+ IPS LCD panel, but unlike the Pova 5G, this one lacks any high refresh rate feature, not even 90Hz at least.
And moving away from the display, you get the good old tested and trusted MediaTek Helio G85 chipset that is slapped on top 4 or 6GB of RAM, and you can have them with either 64 or 128GB of internal storage capacities, respectively.
For cameras, you’re getting a 48MP main camera sensor that is complemented using a trio of 2MP sensors, the first two for depth, and the last one for macro, and on the front sits an 8MP front-facing cam.
One place where the Tecno Pova 2 shines the brightest among all other Tecno smartphones ever launched from day one to date is on the battery.
So, this phone ships with a massive 7000 mAh capacity power cell with 18W fast charging, making it the largest battery ever put on a Tecno device to date, and making it the best phone for you if you’re looking to be consuming media, browsing the web, and playing games for long hours non-stop.
10. Tecno Pova Neo
- Announced, Dec 2021.
- 6.8 inches, 720p (HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 13MP dual rear cameras.
- 1080p@30fps.
- 8MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio G25 (12 nm) processor.
- 4/6GB RAM + 64/128GB storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 7.6
- 6000 mAh battery
- 18W fast charging.
- Price: ₦71,000 – 78,500.
Buy now: Tecno Pova Neo (4/64GB), ₦74,990, Jumia.
And climbing down the price ladder even lower, Tecno introduced the Pova Neo last December as a more pocket-friendly option for people who love the Pova devices, but don’t have the funds to afford either the Pova 5G or the Pova 2.
So, on here, you get a smaller 6.8 inches sized LCD display like the rest of the bunch, but this time, it comes with a 720p resolution, and once again, you don’t get a high refresh rate setting on it.
The processor used here is a MediaTek Helio G25 chipset, an entry-level chipset, and the type you’ll mostly find in Tecno Spark smartphones, but it is paired with 4 or 6GB of RAM, with a storage capacity of 64 or 128 Gigabytes respectively.
For cameras, you get the normal and everyday setup for this grade of smartphone, a 13MP main sensor with an unnamed 2MP secondary which is most likely a 2MP depth, macro, or just an AI sensor, while coming to the front is an 8MP front-facing cam.
So, there’s nothing special here in terms of the cameras, and coming to the battery, the Tecno Pova Neo packs the same generous 6000 mAh capacity power cell as found in the Pova 5G variant.
So, the take here is, if you’re looking for a Tecno Pova phone on a budget, especially one that retains the signature large battery capacity that the Pova lineups are known for, then this is definitely the best Tecno phone you should get in 2022.
The best Tecno Spark phones for 2022
11. Tecno Spark 8P

- 4GB RAM + 64/128GB storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 7.6
- 5000 mAh battery

Buy now
- Tecno Spark 8P (4/64GB), ₦78,300, Jumia.
- Tecno Spark 8P (4/128GB), ₦88,430, Jumia.
The Tecno Spark 8P is the latest and current best Spark device that Tecno has to over right now, it brings a 6.6 inches 1080p+ display at your fingerprint, making it the first-ever Tecno phone from the Spark series to rock a display resolution above the native 720p that they been known for in the past.
And aside from the display, it’s also got a 50MP main camera on the back, which is reminiscent of the one used in the more expensive Tecno Pova 5G, and this once again, makes it the first Tecno phone from the Spark series to rock such a high-resolution camera unit.
Moving further, the Tecno Spark 8P rocks a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, which is a big downgrade from the Helio G70 variant used in the Spark 7P last year, and personally, I don’t know why Tecno had to do such a thing.
And coming down to the battery, the Spark 8P is fitted with a generously large 5000 mAh power cell with 10W charging.
So, the take here is, aside from the downgraded chipset used here, if you’re looking for the best that Tecno has to offer in its latest Spark device, especially in terms of the display resolution and camera, then the Spark 8P is undoubtedly the best Tecno phone anyone could get in 2022.
12. Tecno Spark 8
- Announced, Sept 2021.
- 6.5 inches, 720p (HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 16MP dual rear cameras.
- 1080p@30fps.
- 16MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio P22 (12 nm) processor.
- 2GB RAM + 64GB storage.
- Android 11 (Go edition) + HiOS 7.6
- 5000 mAh battery
- 10W fast charging.
- Price: ₦64,950.
Buy now: Tecno Spark 8 (2/64GB), ₦64,950, Jumia.
The Tecno Spark 8, being the vanilla model of the Spark 8P, cuts down on a bunch of specs from its elder sibling while trying to make the price more affordable for folks out there.
So, on here, you get a 6.5 inches sized 720p LCD display, a 16MP main rear camera which is a far cry from the 50MP variant on the 8P, for performance, there is a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset that is paired with 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, and lastly, a 5000 mAh battery to keep the lights on.
13. Tecno Spark 7P
- Announced, April 2021.
- 6.8 inches, 720p (HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 90Hz refresh rate.
- 16MP triple rear cameras.
- 1080p@30fps.
- 8MP front-facing camera.
- MediaTek Helio G70 (12nm) processor (7P).
- 4GB RAM + 64/128GB Storage.
- Android 11 + HiOS 7.5
- 5000 mAh battery.
- Price: ₦71,000.
Buy Now: Tecno Spark 7P (4/64GB), ₦76,990, Jumia.
The Tecno Spark 7P is what once used to be referred to as the best Tecno Spark phone before the Spark 8P happened, and like the Spark 8P, you win some and lose some in terms of specs.
For instance, unlike the Spark 8P where you get a 1080p+ display with no high refresh rate, on here, you get a 720p resolution display, but with a 90Hz screen refresh rate.
Secondly, unlike the Spark 8P where you get a not-so-good MediaTek Helio G35 processor, you get a much better Helio G70 variant on here with 4GB of RAM, and either 64 or 128GB of storage.
Moving further, unlike on the 8P where you’re spoiled with a 50MP main camera sensor, you get a 16MP variant on the 7P.
And finally, there is the presence of the same 5000 mAh capacity battery on here, and that wraps it up for the Tecno Spark 8P.
So, in conclusion, if you loved the Tecno Spark 8P but are being drawn back by the mediocre Helio G35 processor on it, and the base 2GB of RAM, then at a slightly cheaper price, you can go for the Spark 7P with a much better Helio G70 chipset and a base 4GB of RAM, making it the best Tecno Spark phone on the planet today, in terms of performance.
14. Tecno Spark 7
- Announced, April 2021.
- 6.5 Inches, 720p (HD+), IPS LCD display.
- 16MP dual rear cameras
- 1080p@30fps.
