Jaws
Jaws is easily one of the most popular shark movies in the history of Hollywood today. The storyline follows Martin Brody, the new police chief of the small summer resort town of Amity Island. When the mangled body of a missing swimmer was found washed offshore, Brody has reasons to believe it was the work of the most fearsome sea monster, the Shark.
Worried about the unsuspecting tourists, Brody insists on closing down the beaches; however, greed, and Mayor Larry Vaughn, get in the way of security, only to spark a series of additional bloody attacks. After a young boy is killed that weekend, the dead boy’s mother puts out a bounty on the shark and Amity is soon swamped with amateur hunters and fishermen hoping to cash in on the reward.
A local fisherman with much experience hunting sharks, Quint, offers to hunt down the creature for a hefty fee. Soon Quint, Brody, and Matt Hooper from the Oceanographic Institute are at sea hunting the Great White shark. As Brody succinctly surmises after their first encounter with the creature, they’re going to need a bigger boat.
Shark Tale
Coming in second on the list is Shark Tale, it’s an animated movie that tells the story of Oscar (Will Smith), a bottom-feeder who claimed he killed the son of the fearsome shark mob boss, Don Lino. He will later come to realize that his newly acquired fame will be short-lived and be faced with the consequences of his lie.
If you’re looking for a shark movie away from the traditional bloody and gruesome types, then this is definitely one of the best shark movies on Netflix you can find right now.
The Meg
Five years ago, experienced diver and Navy Captain Jonas Taylor encountered unknown dangers in the uncharted depths of the Mariana Trench, forcing him to abandon his mission and leave behind half his crew.
While the tragic incident caused him to retire and ultimately cost him his career, marriage, and any semblance of honor, he has baseless and unfounded suspicions about what caused it—believing that his boat was hit by a 70-foot giant sea creature, believed to has been extinct for over a million years.
But when a submersible sank at the bottom of the ocean and couldn’t work — his ex-wife was on board as part of the team — he got a call.
Whether it’s a redemption attempt or Suicide Squad, Jonas must face his fears and risk his life and the lives of everyone trapped below to solve a problem: The Megalodon – the largest ocean predator ever seen, is it still alive – and on the hunt?
In the Heart of the Sea
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex is attacked by an unbelievable creature: a massive whale with a strong will and an almost human sense of vengeance.
The real shipwreck inspired Herman Melville’s, Moby Dick. But that only tells half the story.
In the Heart of the Sea, the surviving crew is pushed to the limit and forced to do the unimaginable in order to survive, revealing the tragic aftermath of the encounter.
Despite storms, hunger, panic, and despair, these men will question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the ethics of their profession, while their Captain seeks his way on the high seas and his First Mate seeks to bring down the Great. Whale coincidence.

The Shallows
After losing her mother, medical student Nancy drops out of medical school in Galveston and heads to Mexico, where she hitches a ride to a secluded beach her mother loved in her youth.
She took a backpack and a surfboard to go surfing and was met by two surfers who warned about the low and high tide schedule. They left the sea, but Nancy decided to stay a little longer.
When she saw a dead whale floating on the water, she swam up to the animal only to be taken by surprise by a great white shark. She gets bitten on her leg and uses her medical knowledge to survive on a rock. But the tide came and she was besieged by ferocious sharks.
And that wraps it up for today on the 15 most popular shark movies on Netflix today, of course, ranked from best to worst.
